Sunday June 25, 2023 at 6pm
El Encanto Resort at Hacienda Encantada
Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, Mexico

We are getting married on a cliff overlooking the Sea of Cortez. It’s a beautiful location and we’re excited that you are coming! Here are some important details about our wedding.

Wedding gifts/ registry:
We are over the moon pleased that you are coming to our wedding, and that is gift enough. Please, no gifts!

Dress code:
Garden or Aloha Wedding. Spike heels are not recommended at the ceremony site! Smart khaki shorts are fine.

How to get to the resort and getting around:
– Remember that you will need at least 6 months on your passport from when you are due to fly back to the US!
– If you are flying out of SEATAC, there have been a lot of delays at TSA reported recently, and you should probably give yourself lots of time to get to your flight – 3 hours is recommended.
– From San José del Cabo International Airport take either a private SUV for about $90 one way (we are using Allways Cabo Transportation), or Gray Line shared transport for $17 a person. You should only book one-way, because it’s hard to get those options for the return trip, and then take a taxi from the hotel to the airport for about the same cost as the one way SUV.
– Your car service will meet you outside the airport at the designated meet point. When you first exit customs, but are still inside the airport, you are funneled through a room FILLED with car service folks. They may claim to be with your service, they are not. Just politely move past them and exit the airport. Directly outside you will find a long sidewalk with people with clipboards and the shirts clearly stating your car service name. Your car service will tell you which bay to go to, and how to identify their staff.
– It is not possible to book an uber at the airport, or from the hotel. However you can use it to return to the hotel from downtown.

General tips to be aware of at the hotel:
– There are timeshares at the hotel, and someone will offer you the chance to go to a presentation for one. Don’t! It’s a real time suck.
– The all-inclusive package includes food and drink only. Hotel staff may come to your room to sell other extra amenities (like a romance package) that are not included in the all-inclusive. This only happened once when we first arrived. We just politely said no, because we were not interested.
– Tips are included in the price you are paying for the resort. You are not required to add tips for anything, including drinks, meals, or rides on the golf carts. Sometimes you might want to tip for exceptional service – we recommend either bringing some $1 and $5 bills, or having some pesos with you for that, although again, it’s not required.

Meal plan:
– The hotel is à la carte style all-inclusive. If you are likely to have more than a drink or two while you stay, we very strongly recommend paying to upgrade to the “premium all-inclusive plan”. It provides not only a greater range of “top shelf” spirits, but also offers expanded menu options including steak and lobster tail, plus expanded room service options. That costs an additional $20 per person per day (you have to pay for everyone in your room), and you need to arrange this before traveling by emailing Maritza Venegas at: callcenter@haciendaencantada.com. If you want to upgrade after you get to Cabo, it then costs $30 per person per day.
– On the all-inclusive plan you also get to eat at a few restaurants in the marina area downtown that are connected to the sister resort of Marina Fiesta.
– Most of the dinner restaurants at the resort require a reservation and we recommend making these soon as they are already starting to fill up. The concierge can book for you. Email: concierge@haciendaencantada.com. Reservations are not required for breakfast (buffet) or lunch.
–The restaurants that we really enjoyed were Los Riscos (grill), Barolo (Italian), and La Trajinera (Mexican). There is also a fun taco place for dinner that doesn’t need a reservation. You can also eat at Mestizo, although last time we were there you had to be on the premium plan to do so. Downtown, there are also some dinner restaurants attached to Marina Fiesta ( included in your all-inclusive plan) and are overlooking the Marina and sometimes have live music – such as Jack’s and the Baja Lobster Co.
– Breakfast is a buffet at the Las Marias restaurant, and it has a good selection of Mexican and international food.

Getting around the resort:
You can walk to most places. However, there are also lots of golf carts that you can either flag down or else call reception if you don’t want to walk in the heat of the day!

Festivities:
In addition to the wedding day celebration on Sunday, we will be hanging out around the pools, restaurants, and bars at the resort and will provide “Where are Richard and Kate” updates so that you can find us. We are also planning two group excursions off-resort for those who are interested. And although it’ll be pretty warm, there are a couple of pickleball courts next to the El Encanto rooms where we are staying, and Richard will bring some extra paddles.

Schedule: Where in the world will Richard and Kate be?

Note about hours : Most places at the resort close by around 10pm, so be prepared!

Wednesday: For those arriving today, we have reserved two restaurant seating blocks at La Trajinera Mexican restaurant at 7:30pm for 12 people, and 8:00 for 11 people. Due to the size of the group it’s a limited menu, so if you want a full menu somewhere, you might want to book your own table – just let us know, so we can inform the restaurant.

Thursday: Early morning pickleball, hanging around the pools (the main one we use is the adult “quiet” pool, but there is also an activity pool that’s great for kids, and a pool in front of the building that most of us are staying in. The adult pool is probably good for most of the teens coming to the wedding!). After dinner either the fire pit near the taco restaurant, or music at the cocktail bar

Friday: In the afternoon, we will meet up with anyone interested around 1 pm at the marina downtown for fish tacos and a beach trip. We will pick up a water taxi to take us to a beach for some swimming and snorkeling. It’s a wet trip to the beach so be in swimming gear. If you want to stay for dinner downtown, you could make a reservation at one of the restaurants at the sister hotel, Marina Fiesta, like Jack’s. These restaurants are right on the Marina and have great views and sometimes live music,  After dinner either the fire pit near the taco restaurant, or music at the cocktail bar.

Saturday: Catamaran trip during the day, returning by around 3pm (although there’s always the option to stay downtown). Pool and cocktails in the afternoon. After dinner either the fire pit near the taco restaurant, or music at the cocktail bar.

– The bus will leave the resort at 9:15am, and we’ll be on the catamaran before 10am.
– There will be a photographer on board getting photos for purchase of couples, families, and the group.
– DON’T FORGET TO BRING A TOWEL + SUNSCREEN! ALSO SOME MONEY FOR TIPS IN RETURN FOR GOOD SERVICE!

Sunday: Hanging out at the pools/ maybe early morning pickleball. Wedding gathering starts at 6pm. After wedding party at firepit and/or one of the suites!

Monday: The same, but maybe also a trip to playa Santa Maria, which is a short taxi ride from the hotel, with warm waves and snorkeling. You’ll need a swimsuit, towel, and snorkel or goggles.

If you would like to go on your own excursions, we highly recommend Cabo Adventures. We’ve done most of their excursions and are happy to give our advice on which ones might be right for you.

Thank you for helping us make our wedding a memorable celebration!
